(b. 29 Dec 1875 in Baxter or Ditty, Putnam Co., TN; d. 19 Sept 1915 Leedey OK) Parents: Abraham Munroe Allison & Gurire Thomas. Married William Thomas Hart 11 Feb 1894. Children: Minnie Estella, Ada Lee, and Leonard Herschel "Buster" Hart.
Known for her outgoing personality, Deanna was a member of the Rebecca Lodge of either Leedey, Moorewood, or Texmo, OK. She loved to be photographed with her horse, Old Pet, and she was very fond of large hats and stylish dresses. She performed community service in the form of caring for the sick and dying. In 1904, she took the train to the World's Fair in St. Louis, MO, where she purchased souvenirs for her family, including a small bud vase featuring an image of the Liberal Arts Building, which is currently in the possession of her great-granddaughter, Karen White. Deanna purportedly died of blood poisoning resulting from termination efforts of an unwanted pregnancy. She is buried at Red Star Cemetery, Leedey OK.

Billie June Ruth April 1, 1930 May 15, 2005 She loved the Lord. On Sunday, Billie played the piano at church, gave her testimony, sat down, and God chose that moment to call her home. Billie was born in Esther, Missouri. She was the seventh of eight daughters born to Collen and Millie Hardy. She came to California at the age of 18, where she met Charles William Ruth. They were married October 23, 1949. Billie and Chuck were blessed with two children, Charles William Ruth, Jr. and Marilyn June Ruth. Billie was an avid bowler, played the piano, and loved to travel. During her lifetime she worked as a secretary for her church, Kern County Airport, and Plantation Elementary School. She and Chuck were the owners of Spray-Rite Manufacturing. Billie was loved and will be missed very much by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; and her son, Chuck, Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Randy Smith; daughter-in-law, Janet Ruth Brown; grandchildren, Susan Ruth, Charles Ruth III, Anna and Sean Clason, Rhonda and James Taylor, and Russell Smith; great granddaughters, Emily Taylor and Ella Clason; sisters, Reyma Dirks, Helen Shipley, Doris Royster, and Fay Allen; close companions, Bill Wood and Billie Mathis; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2005, 1 p.m., at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue, Bakersfield, CA. Legacy.com

SERVICES FOR RAY BIRCH WERE CONDUCTED
FROM THE FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH, BURWELL

Funeral services for the late Ray Birch, were conducted from the First Christioan Church, Burwell, NE, Wednesday, February 14th, with Pastor Carroll Gunderson officiating. The selections, "Going Down The Valley" and "How Great Thou Art", were sung by Mrs. Carroll Gunderson; Mrs. Iva Helmkamp organist. Pallbearers were Garland Davenport, Jack Tetschner, Vern Brown, Anson Kinney, Eddie Bartos and Elmer Freeland. Interment was made in Cotton Cem, Burwell, NE.

OBITUARY

Ray Birch, in failing health for some time, and seriously ill for the past two weeks, died early Monday morning, February 12, 1968, at Hastings Hospital.

Born February 5, 1881, in Iowa, he later moved to Gage County and Beatrice, NE. On January 23, 1902 he married Laura O. Hillman. In 1903 he moved to the Burwell area, homesteading. He ranched and farmed until his health forced his retirement. Mrs. Birch died in 1951.

In 1955 at Broken Bow, NE, he was united in marriage to Henrietta Wright. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1967.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Blanch) Fredericks, Beatrice, Mrs. Willard (Violet) Jaster of Riverside, CA, and Mrs. William (Marjory) Spencer of Spokane, Washington; one son, Lester Birch, of Lebanon, MO; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two daughters and one son in infancy; one son Raymond, in 1959, and his parents.

Also surviving are three step-daughters, Mrs. Louise Bartos, Mrs. Bertha Freeland, boh of Burwell, and Mrs. May Etta Beat of Lincoln; and a step-son, Anson Kinney.

1907-2004

Elmo R. Marshall, 96, St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at a Savannah, Mo., health-care center.

Elmo was born Sept. 20, 1907, in North Platte NEb. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Elmo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He had been owner-operator of a laundry in Nebraska. He then came to St. Joseph and managed the laundry at the Hotel Robidoux until it closed. He then moved to Louisiana, where he had various jobs until his retirement in 1973. He moved back to the St. Joseph area in 1980.

He married Fern C. Snyder on Dec. 21, 1930. She passed away in 1996.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Emma (Bolander) Marshall; and a grandson, Christopher Saverino.

Survivors include a daughter, Patty Hovenga, and her husband, Steve of St. Joseph; a brother, Raymond Marshall, Mount Dora, Fla.; a sister, Thelma Weitkamp, Rush, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Thursday, at Mount Auburn Cem, under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Evangelist Melvin Hougas officiating. Pallbearers are Steve Hovenga, Jeff Saverino, Shawn Hovenga and Richard Hovenga. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Noyes Home for Children.
